Preference Card Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining the computer based preference card system for all surgical procedures. Works closely with nursing, inventory personnel, and Business Office to accurately maintain inventory and charges. Serves as a link between surgeon’s needs and inventory control in an ever-evolving health care system.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
High School Diploma
12 months hospital work experience
Medical Terminology preferred
Requires the organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
Requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Requires the ability to meet deadlines, to concentrate and pay attention to details.

Central Processing Technician
Under the supervision of the Materials Manager, receives all materials, unpacking/uncrating items, and verifying accuracy of items received with packing slip and original purchase order. Conducts research, follow-up, and problem resolution as required. Requires a strong command of secretarial, organizational and communication skills, as well as, strong knowledge of department, company and hospital policies and procedures. Contacts vendors regarding shipping errors and any unacceptable conditions of items received. Ships items to the appropriate department. Stocks and maintains back-up inventories and distributes orders as requested. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Physicians Medical Center policies, procedures, and standards. Promotes professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization. Other duties as assigned.
