Q: Where can I get food and coffee while visiting in the hospital?
|
A: The hospital does not have a full-service cafeteria. Vending machines are located in the hospital dining area. This area is open 24/7 and is located between the patient room wing and the Imaging Department. Coffee may be obtained free from all waiting areas, dining area or the nurses’ station. There are numerous restaurants located within 5 minutes driving time. Some offer delivery service to the hospital. Inquire with a receptionist in one of our lobby areas for further information. Click to access The Taste of South Louisiana Menu Guide. This guide offers some local dining options.

Q: When can my family visit and how many?
|
A: In the interest of security, visiting hours are 9am to 8pm. Patients may have someone stay with them at night if so desired. Children are not allowed to spend the night with a patient. Please check with your nurse to make arrangements. A sleep chair will be provided for the overnight guest. We ask that visitors are limited to 2 at a time. The patient needs quiet time to rest and recuperate. Please allow for privacy during treatments and personal hygiene.

Q: What do I need to bring with me to the hospital?
|
A: We ask all our surgery and medical admissions to bring their home medications with them in the original containers. It is very important that we get an accurate list of medications you are currently taking. This includes over the counter meds and herbal supplements.
We ask you bring your insurance cards, Medicare cards and any paperwork the doctor’s office may have given you pertaining to your hospital visit or surgery. It is very important to update your current information with each visit to make sure the proper information is submitted with your insurance claim.
Your Pre-admit nurse will inform you of any other items that you might need to bring.

Q: Why did the person who came in after me get called first?
|
A: Prior to surgery, patients are called into the pre-op area according to their scheduled surgery time and which physician they are seeing. Here at PMC, there are multiple doctors doing different procedures at the same time. Generally, your doctor will ask you to arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to your scheduled surgery time. If your surgery is delayed due to an emergency or an extended procedure in front of yours, you will be notified of such.
