What do I need to bring with me to the hospital?
We ask all of our patients to bring their home medications with them in the original containers. It is very important that we get an accurate list of medications you are currently taking. This includes over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements.
You will also need to bring your insurance card, Medicare card, and any paperwork the doctor’s office may have given you pertaining to your hospital visit or surgery. It is very important to update your current information with each visit to make sure the proper information is submitted with your insurance claim. Your Pre-admit nurse will inform you of any other items that you might need to bring.

. The directory is listed both alphabetically and by specialty. You can also call PMC at (985) 853.1390
Which entrance do I come in?
We have three entrances. The front entrance is for surgery patients on the day of surgery only. The middle entrance (on the right side) is for patients coming in for Pre-admit, in-patient admissions, laboratory services, or to pay a bill. The last entrance on the right side is for Radiology services. Each entrance has a drive-thru canopy to accommodate limited mobility or inclement weather conditions. Wheelchairs are available at all entrances.
Where can I get food and coffee while visiting in the hospital?
The hospital does not have a full-service cafeteria. Vending machines are located in the hospital dining area. This area is open 24/7 and is located between the patient wing and the Imaging Department. Complementary coffee may be obtained in the dining area, or the nurses’ station. There are numerous restaurants located within five minutes driving time. Some offer delivery service to the hospital. Inquire with a receptionist in one of our lobby areas for further information. Visit the Taste of South Louisiana Menu Guide for additional local dining options.
When can my family visit? How many guests can I have?
In the interest of security, visiting hours are 9AM-8PM. Patients may have someone stay with them at night if so desired. Please check with your nurse to make arrangements. A sleep chair will be provided for overnight guests. Children are not allowed to spend the night. We ask that visitors are limited to two at a time. Patients need quiet time to rest and recuperate. Please allow for privacy during treatments and personal hygiene.
Does the hospital offer wireless service?
Yes, patients and guests can access the internet, free of charge, through our secure high-speed wireless network. You will need your own laptop or internet device. Inquire at any waiting area for log-in instructions. We also offer free Comcast TV cable service. Each patient room has a 27" flat screen TV.
Why did the person who came in after me get called first?
Prior to surgery, patients are called into the pre-op area according to their scheduled surgery time and which physician they are seeing. At PMC, there are multiple doctors doing different procedures at the same time. Generally, your doctor will ask you to arrive 30 minutes to one hour prior to your scheduled surgery time. If your surgery is delayed due to an emergency or an extended procedure in front of yours, you will be notified.
